Drum roll, please… Introducing the NEW percussion instructor!

Accelerando proudly welcomes Brandon M. Schantz as another distinguished Carnegie Mellon Alumni and knowledgeable instructor for our students!

A native of Quakertown, Pennsylvania, Brandon has been studying and performing music professionally for the past 10 years receiving both Bachelors and Masters Degrees in performance from Carnegie Mellon University. Upon graduating in 2010, Brandon earned a full-time contract with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for the 2010-11 season performing under the batons of renowned maestros such as Manfred Honeck, Leonard Slatkin, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Gianandrea Noseda, Keith Lockhart, and Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos.

Prior to his appointment with the PSO, Brandon achieved the Grand Prix award at the PerKumania festival Le Concours International de Caisse Claire at the Paris Conservatory, France, followed by second runner-up prize at the Atlanta Symphony’s Modern Snare Drum Competition. Along with Accelerando’s Christina Chirumbolo, Brandon was also recognized as a Carnegie Mellon University School of Music Distinguished Alumni in 2011. Currently, Brandon maintains a busy freelance schedule performing regularly with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, River City Brass Band, and the Erie Philharmonic, while also taking part in numerous drum set recording projects with local Pittsburgh music producers.
